mens room, stirling castle, stirling
These are what urinals look like in a castle. We stopped off in Stirling to visit the castle on the way home from Loch Lomond (we also swung by the castle in Doune which features in Monty Python’s Holy Grail). We toured the castle, had lunch and I peed twice. I wish I could have used thee ancient royal piss pots, but that’s life.

mens room, oak tree inn bar, balmaha
We drove out to Loch Lomond to spend the night at the Rowardennan Lodge. It was pretty isolated, so for dinner we drove back down to the base of the lake and ate at the lovely Oak Tree Inn. Here are the urinals there.

mens room, jahangir indian restaurant, st andrews
We went to St Andrews and had a delicious meal at our favorite Indian restaurant. I’m still hoping Anna follows through with her threat to comment about the vaginal form of urinals, as well as other scatological observations. Yeah, I’m calling you out.

mens room, henry's cellar pub, edinburgh
I drove down to Edinburgh last night to see the long-running Scottish anarcho-punk band Oi Polloi in concert. The show was in Henry’s Cellar Bar, a small club that puts on all sorts of shows, from jazz to punk. The toilets were as disgusting as one would hope. The band was great.

mens room, anstruther fish bar, anstruther
This fish n’ chips restaurant was named the best in all of the UK last year. I can’t speak for the quality of the fish, as I had a veggie burger, but the chips were pretty good. I liked their urinal too. The restroom was actually long and skinny, so I could back way up to get this picture.

gents room, blacketyside farm cafe, leven
We went to pick up Anna’s mom and step-dad from the airport this morning. They will be visiting for the next week and a bit. On the way back, we stopped at this farm/cafe just outside of Leven. When we first arrived in Scotland, almost two months ago, we also stopped here for a bathroom break. But that day I posted a picture of the urinals at the Edinburgh airport instead. Today, I had the same choice between those two options, so I’m going with the Blacketyside (I know, what a great name) urinal instead. I even got down low for a nice close-up shot.

restroom, auld kirk, st monans
This is the restroom upstairs in the 14th century auld kirk (old church) where I’ve been going for rehearsals for the mystery plays I am in. I’m playing Annas, one of the bad guys. Pretty fitting, eh? We had a rehearsal tonight, since the shows (five different ones) begin in less than two week. In other news, I’ve just been invited to Copenhagen in May, so look forward to seeing some Danish toilets around then.

bathroom, downstairs, home, st monans
I had plans to go to a pub in Anstruther this evening with a friend, and was looking forward to documenting the toilet there. Unfortunately, he cancelled at the last minute, so I’m posting the downstairs loo instead.

mens room, elie sports club, elie
Now that is a fine looking photo of some fine looking urinals. I like the design of the urinals: a harsh aggressive V with a cool interior lip.
